Using a Self-Created MCP Due to Gamma Not Releasing One Yet?

Gamma has not released an MCP so I am taking a guess you are using one you created/found? Neil S.

Yeah. I asked Claude CoWork to build an MCP based on the API.

It build your MCP server wrong it sounds like. I am assuming you checked the MCP logs? Which most likely is running locally?

It is, but a few things. 1. You don't need an MCP to do this. You can just use the API or make a skill. 2. Yes a MCP can do it, but your still using the Gamma API. If that is not your thing really, it would be easier to just use the API. All an MCP is the API

Ah. Great. So I should just instruct Claude cowork to use the api as a skill vs. Create an MCP?

I am sure you will have faster success with asking Claude how you can create a skill using the API, then asking it to create a MCP using the API. Unless your using all of the endpoints I think it is kind of pointless (from a developer).

What would be the benefit of an MCP vs using the API?

In order to build a MCP server you are using the same API. A MCP server is just a tool for a LLM to use the API. You a still using REST.

Hey Neil S. we have an official Claude connector on their directory now: https://claude.com/connectors/gamma so you should be able to interface that way. It was recently released so let us know if you need any help!
