Hey Doug, always good to hear from you! The API sets sharingOptions.workspaceAccess and sharingOptions.externalAccess at generation time, but there's no endpoint to update permissions afterward. The API is create-only; no editing of existing gammas. Today the only path is: users open the gamma in the app and change sharing permissions manually before forwarding the link. Not great for your flow, I know. Your ask -- letting link recipients downgrade from edit to view-only -- touches the sharing model, not just the API. I'd log it on Canny with the workflow context you described. The angle about driving users into the Gamma editing experience is worth including.

That would work great I think if thats the cae3, but when I changed permissions in the main acct (the one with the api key) so that 'edit' was default for people with the link, then shared it to someone else, they were able to edit the presentation in the gamma app, but then they were not able to change the permissions from edit to view. maybe I missed something? It seemed to me though that they weren't able to change permissions on a gamma from a shared link they receive.

Doug, you're right. Recipients who open a gamma via an edit link can edit the content, but changing the sharing settings is a separate permission, and shared links don't grant it. Quick question: when your user opens the shared gamma, is the sharing/permissions option visible but disabled, or not there at all? For the feature request, Canny is the right place -- https://meetgamma.canny.io/ . Worth mentioning both flavors in the post: link recipients downgrade sharing themselves, or an API endpoint to change sharing after generation. Either solves the forwarding issue.

Pretty sure I can see the permissions in a shared link, just cant change.

Yep, that's expected. The sharing panel shows link recipients the current permissions (so they know what they can do with the doc), but actually changing those permissions requires the owner account. Intentional, not a bug.

Yep makes sense. But would love a setting in the owner acct to allow others to change settings. That would be a great way to address editing. I added it to Canny - thanks!
