Hey Jason G.! You're correct that PNG exports aren't available through the API yet, just PDF and PPTX for now. I know that's frustrating when you're building social workflows that need actual image files, not documents.
Here's what's happening: the API grew out of Gamma's presentation and document roots, so the export options haven't caught up to social use cases yet. You can generate social posts in all the right dimensions (1x1 for Instagram, 4x5 for carousels, 9x16 for stories), but then you'd have to grab the Gamma URL and manually export as PNG from the app. Which totally defeats the point of automation.
The PNG export in the app itself is actually really good. People use it all the time for Instagram and LinkedIn content. It's just not wired into the API yet. We're still in beta, so things are evolving, but I can't give you a timeline on when PNG might show up as an export option.
I really appreciate you flagging this, though. If you drop this in Ideas & Requests, the product team will see it directly. When someone says "I literally can't use this for my workflow," that's the kind of feedback that shapes what gets prioritized next.
What are you building? Are you trying to automate daily social posts, or is this part of a bigger content pipeline? Just curious about your setup. Might help me understand if there's any workaround that could actually make sense for what you're doing.
